symbiosis
« Symbiosis » は、周囲の光を集め、柔らかなアンビエント・ライトとして機能する照明のシリーズです。
光を集める「集光ユニット」と、その光をシェードまで届ける「光ファイバー」の組み合わせでできた、電気を用いない照明です。
集光ユニットには、屋外で太陽光を取り込むタイプと、室内で人工照明を利用するタイプの2種類があります。
屋外で収穫された太陽光は、天候に応じて、時には力強く、時には繊細に、その表情を変化させ、使用者に屋外の気配を伝えます。デスクの上の観葉植物に光を伝えることもできます。集光ユニットには、太陽光に追従して集光できるように、角度を調整する機能が備わっています。
人工照明から光を取り込む集光ユニットは、別の部屋の人たちの営みを伝え、少し不思議なコミュニケーションを生み出すかもしれません。
« Symbiosis » は、新たなエネルギーを消費する代わりに、今そこにある光を必要な場所へと導くことで、光を介した共生のあり方を模索した、新たな光のデザインです。
« Symbiosis » is a series of lighting devices that collect surrounding light and function as soft, ambient illumination.
By combining a light-condensing unit with optical fibers that transmit light to the shade, this lighting system requires no electricity. There are two types of light-condensing units: one for capturing sunlight outdoors and another for utilizing artificial lighting indoors.
Sunlight harvested outside changes its expression—sometimes intense, sometimes subtle—depending on the weather, bringing the presence of the outdoors to the user. It can also be used to direct light toward a houseplant on your desk. The outdoor unit features an adjustable angle to track and collect sunlight effectively.
The indoor unit, which captures artificial light, conveys the subtle activities of people in other rooms, potentially creating a unique form of wordless communication. Instead of consuming additional energy, « Symbiosis » is a new approach to lighting design that explores the possibilities of coexistence through light, by guiding existing light to where it is needed most.
