あなたが旅先で素敵な家具に出会ったら？ もしも、その家具を飛行機で持ち帰ることができたら？
今回、私たちは「梱包状態で飛行機の機内持ち込み手荷物規定サイズに収まる」 という条件に挑戦しました。その上で、組み立てのプロセスにも驚きや楽しさ、 物語を持った家具を提案します。
パッケージサイズに制約があるからこそ生まれたコレクションです。
“CATHEDRAL”
「CATHEDRAL（カテドラル）」は、ゴシック建築から着想を得たローテーブルです。成形合板と2種類の金属パーツで構成されています。パーツ単体での強度は限られていますが、構造体として組み上がることで、かかる全ての力が中心へと集約され、安定性と強度を生み出します。本作は、神戸芸術工科大学のデザイングループ「DesignSoil」のコレクションとして、2011年のミラノサローネにて発表されました。

Reduction of distribution costs is one of the most critical challenges in the furniture industry today. In addition to minimizing package sizes, it has become standard practice for furniture to be delivered flat-packed and assembled at home.
The possibilities of being “compact”
What if you encountered a beautiful piece of furniture while traveling? What if that piece could be carried onto an airplane? In this project, we explored the design of furniture that can be dismantled and packed within the carry-on luggage limits of major airlines.
The assembly process and the story behind each design are intended to evoke a sense of surprise and pleasure. This collection exists precisely because of these size restrictions.
“CATHEDRAL” is a low table inspired by Gothic architecture. It is composed of molded plywood and two types of metal fittings. While the individual parts have limited strength, once assembled, the structural forces are redirected toward the center, providing remarkable stability and strength. This work was presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in 2011.
